The Music Academy has selected senior Carnatic vocalist Sudha Ragunathan for the honour of Sangita Kalanidhi to be conferred at the end of the forthcoming annual conference during December 2013.

Bharata Natyam guru Chitra Visweswaran has been nominated Natya Kala Acharya, which award will be given away in January 2014.

Hearty congratulations to the awardees from Sruti magazine and the Sruti Foundation.

  1. Sudha Ragunathan is clearly deserving of the Sangita Kalanidhi award, although I wish that K. S. Gopalakrishnan (flute) would not continue to be overlooked.

  2. There are so many senior Carnatic musician's I would list out some of them....
    1) Prapancham Sitaram (Flute)
    2) Hyderabad Sisters(Vocal)
    3) Hyderabad Brothers(Vocal)
    4) Nookala China SatyaNarayana
    5) Manda Sudha Rani

I think the music Academy should think 1000 times to respect seniors though Sudha Ragunathan is not a bad option this time
